One day while the Princesses were out in the forest, a giant cake popped out of the ground. Tempting by the sweet delicacy, they had a taste, and soon after began feasting on it and devouring it. There was a curse however that it would make them crave for more and more cake, whilst at the same time fattening them up.
The Kings didn't know what to do until they heard that a prince was coming into the land looking to marry a Princess. Whoever he kisses would also be cured of the cake eating curse.
It's time for war!

Going to war takes you through 4 different game modes: Rescue the Princess, Snatch 'n Grab, Team Deathmatch, and Invasion.
Story mode will take you through each mode in accordance to the progression of the story, or you can 'play with yourself' and 'mess about' and learn each map to prepare for online war.

However, don't expect the AI to be of much use. Early in the game they may be useful due to the small and easy stages, but later on when the levels are a little more difficult and the pressure is on, they are absolutely useless and uncoordinated. You will find yourself having to do everything on your own, but to no avail as you have no back up.

In Rescue the Princess, they have your Princess, and you have theirs. The goal is to get inside their castle, rescue her, and bring her back into your castle, whilst preventing the enemies from doing the same.
This can be very difficult when the Princess is fattened up by cakes making her harder and slower to carry out.
Luckily, there are various routes you can take and with a good amount of team work, you can make it through.

In Snatch 'n Grab, the idea is to get into the enemy castle, capture their Princess, and bring her into prison in your own castle.
You will need capture her 3 times to win.

Team Deathmatch consists of the standard game of slaughtering each other and Invasion consisting of controlling guard towers across the map to reduce enemy resistance.

It isn't only team deathmatch which brings together a slaughter house, but every mode alike.
Graphically, the game is a simple 3D mesh with cell shaded colours. Colours are very basic, but very vibrant. One thing you may see a lot of is red though as the game is blood and gore intense with puddles all over the place and bones and limbs every now and then. Thankfully, you can turn the violence off, making it great for smaller children who like to run around and whack people all day long.

On another note, there are two smaller games when you 'play with yourself' which is Gladiate and Soccer.

Gladiate allows you to pick a class and pit you against an onslaught soldiers to survive for as long as you can, and in Soccer, you try to bump the ball into the goal.
This can be a little tricky when you run faster than the ball, requiring you to turn around, only to bump it the other way by accident; unless you run a small arc around but then losing valuable time.

Giving you 5 different classes, you will have plenty arsenal at your disposal.

The Worker, which you use to collect resources to upgrade your classes and construct things, uses a standard axe. Once upgraded, they can throw small bombs around. Their workshop will also begin dropping out big bombs, which on a direct or very close hit is an instant death.
You then have the Warrior who uses a sword and shield, able to block the Archers projectiles. On upgrade, you can use a sword staff which can pierce and smash your enemies.
The Archers would obviously be using arrows, and on upgrade, they are able to use a shotgun.
Mages fling fireballs at their enemies and when upgraded, can fling ice balls to slow the enemies down.
And finally, the Priests can heal allies, or suck the enemies life whilst healing themselves upon upgrade.
The next step up is that most attacks have a charge up attack, where you hold down the attack button to charge it up. Some, such as the Mage, Warrior, and Priest, will have another attack.
You can switch classes on the fly by picking up the desired classes hat to put on.

Although it looks all comical, it wouldn't be without the music. The music is a medieval fantasy sound with the little characters squealing and squirming. What more fun could be when you hear a little squirt scream "I'm over here! Come kill me!"

Network play allows you to create your own game, find a game to your preferences, play with friends, or jump into a quick random game.
While jump in puts you into a random game, it can sometimes put you into a game overseas with immense lag. This will be sorted out during updates though.

All in all, if you're looking for a small whacky game, Fat Princess may just be your cake. Run around, wage war, and have your laugh every now and again.
