Fast Sunday

E-mail Print PDF

Well, good ol' fast Sunday is here again but today; I had a lot of fun.

For those who don't know, we fast each first Sunday of the month as a way of becoming more intune with our spiritual sides as we ignore our physical needs for a day. We do not eat or drink and because we ignore our hunger and thirst, we can concentrate on the promptings of the spirit. Our mind is clear to receive revelations.

Before a fast, we offer a prayer, sometimes a question, or whatever we feel, and we fast for it. Some people will fast longer if they want to for an answer or whatever reason, and when we finish, we offer a prayer of thanks.

There are exceptions such as if we sick for example where we may really need a drink, which is fine. End of the day, it is that we try and to show our faith.

In simple terms, you can think of it as a detox for a day which can help with your health. I know not only for my spirituality, there has been times where I wasn't filling 100% and a fast helped improve my condition.

Well, after church service, a group of us went over to Jenny's to have a bit of fun and games.

We played Pictionary which we had a lot of laughs out of. I wish I had taken a few more photos of some of our epic drawings by one hiliarious one I have is of Aaron's cow.

The word was butter, which I drew a plate, a block of butter, and a knife. Aaron decided to be more elaborate and draw a cow, which who knows what else he was going to do as my team had guessed my drawing by then.

We soon played Cranium for a short while, before we headed out for the YSA fast breaker organised.

I didn't bring any food because I hadn't known about the fast breaker and only found out during church. By the time I was able to get home, it was a quick shower and off to Jenny's house, and even then I was a little late.

A group of us have also planned a little hike through Wilson's Promontory, which is a little past Phillip Island, so I'm excited for that.
